Our research focuses on muscle wasting associated with disuse (e.g., from cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and aging), as well as tendon injury repair and tendinopathies. In the area of muscle wasting, we focus on understanding mechanisms by which anabolic pathways are stimulated and catabolic pathways are inhibited in skeletal muscle. Our work on tendon growth and pathogenesis concentrates on molecular mechanisms of tendon differentiation.
